COAT OF ARMDuring the Middle Ages, knights wore so much armor that they couldn't be told apart on the battle field. As a result, they started carrying shields and flags that represented their coat of arms. The coat of arms had symbols called heraldry that identified individuals, families, countries, and sometimes institutions, such as The Church.No two families could have the same coat of arms. Everything that is on then coat of arms has its own meaning. The Castle (Tower/Chateau) stands for Safety; the Heraldic represents Bravery, strength, ferocity, and valour. The dragon means terror to all beholders, the sun in the flag means Glory and splendour; fountain of life. The two hearts with the cross in the heart stands for LOVE TO WIN, HATE TO LOSE, which is also the meaning of Amour à gagner, Déteste perdre. The colors also have a meaning the black stands for Constancy or grief and the red stands for Warrior or martyr; Military strength and magnanimity. |
