GoalThis website is made to show the effect of King Arthur in literature and how he affected other stories. He was in many different cultures and was seen of a king of many different people. All of these people wrote stories about him which is the Arthur we now know today. He is seen in some of these different then in Lemorte D'Arthur and his role changes slightly. As it changes it makes the character show in different ways. Throughout the website it will show the way things are about Arthur.
The Feudal SystemFeudalism was in process during the time of King Arthur. It is a system where you give land in return for services. These services vary from anything as well as the services. King Arthur was part of this system in many of what was written about him. Many soldiers of the time didn't know how to farm so other people worked on it for them for a piece of land. Thats is an example of an exchange at the time. It eventually dies out and is no longer in use today.
Role of WomenThe women of this time were ruled by men in the family. They were expected to do all home chores and prepare for the men. If the were disobedient they were beaten and in some cases worse. There were Queens and Princesses at the time with power but they were rare. When the were disobedient it was seen as a crime against religion.
War: Jousting & Castles
In King Arthur's time war was mainly consisting of jousting and defending your castle. King's had castle's which enemies tried to breakthrough and defeat the other people. They got there by jousting, which was sword fighting while on horses. Many people in the battlefield used this warfare and it was very popular in this time. War's were also very common in this time and were use to settle many feuds.
Code of ChivalryThe Code of Chivalry was a set of rules for all knights during the time. These were essential to knighthood and had to be followed. This was based around protection and made people swear to protect those who couldn't protect themselves. This also made them noble men. The code summarized to ten things are:
